Ingredients:

  • 250g paneer, cut into cubes
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 capsicum (bell pepper), finely chopped
  • 2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
  • 4-5 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons cornflour
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (maida)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2-3 tablespoons cooking oil
  • Spring onions for garnish (optional)

Method:

  1. Prepare the Paneer:

    • In a bowl, mix cornflour, all-purpose flour, salt, and black pepper powder.
    • Toss the paneer cubes in this mixture until they are evenly coated.
  2. Fry the Paneer:

    • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
    • Once the oil is hot, add the coated paneer cubes and fry until they turn golden brown. Remove them from the pan and set aside on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  3. Prepare the Sauce:

    • In the same pan, add a little more oil if needed.
    • Add minced garlic and ginger, and sauté for a minute until fragrant.
    • Add chopped onions, green chilies, and capsicum, and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until they are slightly tender but still crisp.
  4. Make the Manchurian Sauce:

    • In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, chili sauce, tomato ketchup, vinegar, sugar, and a little water to make a smooth sauce.
    • Pour this sauce into the pan with the sautéed vegetables and mix well.
  5. Combine Paneer and Sauce:

    • Add the fried paneer cubes to the sauce mixture in the pan.
    • Toss everything together gently until the paneer is well coated with the sauce.
  6. Garnish and Serve:

    • Garnish with chopped spring onions if desired.
